We're Fishin'

WE'RE FISHIN'

Sept 24, 1980

I bought my love a rod and reel
She'd never had before,
A "Zebco Silver Anniversary!"
She put it 'hind the door.

It stayed there in its shiny box
From May until September.
And then one day she brought it out,
A day we'll long remember.

The day was bright and the breeze was high
But it didn't matter none.
Two cans of worms and turned up jeans,
The sun and water, one.

The catch was not the 'portant thing,
"Don't hurt them in release"!
The sky, the rocks, the "tame" wild ducks
Were all there just to please.

The quiet and unspoken word,
The gold glint on the waters,
The love we felt, the great reward -

That's all that really matters...
